The Government of Japan offers The Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho: MEXT) Scholarship  each year for Malaysian nationals to apply. Interested applicants are advised to read the guidelines carefully. Unless stated otherwise, scholarship applications should be made to the Embassy of Japan, Kuala Lumpur. 

Scholarship Details

Level of Study:	Postgraduate Programme
Application Timeline:	March 2024 - 19 April 2024
Scholarship Eligibility:	- Completed 16 years of school education  - Completed a programme with the standard study period of three years or more at universities; or equivalent          educational institutions in countries and receive a degree equivalent to Bachelor's Degree - Not exceeding 35 years old (as of 1st April of year of departure
Tenure of Scholarship:	- The tenure of scholarship is from April 2025 to March 2027. The tenure shall include a six-month intensive course of the   Japanese Language, to be given to those whose knowledge of the language is insufficient to pursue their studies. - For those who have been permitted to enter in a regular course of graduate schools (whether Master's Degree or Doctoral   programme) and have excellent academic records, their durations could be extended upon the judgement within the budget - Those who wish to enter Master's Degree or Doctoral programme of a graduate school must sit for and pass the entrance   examination imposed by the university concerned after having studies at least for six months as on-degree research   students. Failure in the examination will result in reenrollment as non-degree research students within the tenure
Scholarship Coverage :	43,000 - 148,000 yen (around RM5,000) per month
